CULINARY SCHOOL

Learn the fine art of harmonizing tastes and textures in the utter luxury of the new One & Only Reethi Rah culinary school. Under the expert tutelage of master chefs, guests will learn the delicate nuances of food presentation and world cuisine. Classes will be available in a range of culinary styles from around the world such as Maldivian, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Arabian, Japanese ‘Washoku’, Thai cuisine or French desserts and pastries.

FOR WINE LOVERS

More than 500 labels from some of the finest wine producers throughout the world are on offer at One&Only Reethi Rah. Stored in two temperature-controlled walk-in wine cellars are more than 4,000 bottles from the famed regions of California, the Châteaux’s of Bordeaux, from Super Tuscans from Italy the lush wineries of Australasia and the wine lands of South Africa.

The Wine Cellar doubles as a Private Dining Room and is ideal for special events and private get-togethers. 

Wine Matching Dinner

Join our Chief Sommelier for an evening of fine food and wine with special pairings and blind tastings. Hosted inside the Wine Cellar at Reethi Restaurant, savor wines from our collection of more than 20,000 bottles ranging from a boutique South African vintage to rare labels from some of the world’s most prestigious vineyards. Tutored Wine Tasting

Explore different ‘terroirs’ (vineyard sites) and a tasting selection of wines to discover how soil, climate and human touch can influence the flavors and textures of these wines.

ACTIVITIES

Land Based

Excitement is just beyond the doorstep of each villa with beach volleyball, tennis, rock climbing, golf, football and Pétanque. Bicycling and jogging are great ways to explore the island’s 44 hectares.

Water Sports

With its spectacular shape and six kilometers of stunning coastline blessed with 12 beautiful beaches, One&Only Reethi Rah, Maldives is a water-lover’s paradise. Many guests visit simply to explore the amazing tropical wonders of the Indian Ocean, embarking on a dolphin-watching expedition, gliding over crystalline waters on a catamaran, or soaring into the sky on a parasailing adventure.

Water sports on offer include banana tube rides, canoeing, kayaking, water-skiing and windsurfing. 
Enjoy Excursions such as island hopping and cocktail cruises or set out on a big game deep-sea fishing Maldives excursion.

Directly off the beach, a short distance into the ocean is the house reef, where guests can explore the Maldives marine life on their own or with a guide. The house reef can easily be reached by canoe or pedal boat for guests to then jump in and discover the many colorful beauties that populate the Maldives coral reefs. Some of the species commonly found around the house reef are manta rays, black spotted sting rays, butterfly fish, sweet lips, fusiliers, groupers, giant moray eels and many other tropical creatures of various sizes.

Water-skiing, speed boat hire, parasailing and wakeboarding are just some of the exciting power sports available at the Water Sports Centre, with expert tuition to help guests get started.

Excursions

From fishing charters to luxury yacht cruises, the Maldives is a water-lover’s paradise. The dhoni is the traditional sailing vessel of the Maldives, and the resort offers a variety of authentic excursions ideal for couples, groups of friends, and families.

Sunset sandbank experience

Experience the thrill of visiting a private deserted island, surrounded by the crystal clear waters and coral reefs of the Indian Ocean. Snorkel in the unbelievably warm sea, and discover an abundance of marine life: a multitude of colourful fish, manta rays, barracudas and even turtles. Drinks and snacks will be served on the sandbank, perfect for sunbathing and admiring a spectacular sunset. 

Traditional Dhoni sunset sailing

Enjoy an evening cruise on our traditional sailing Dhoni, an ideal activity for families, couples and groups of friends. The crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean are teeming with playful dolphins. A highlight of the trip is the glorious sunset seen from the comfort of a private Dhoni. Refreshments served onboard.

Local island experience

During a visit to a neighboring local island you will be able to gain insights into the local culture and Maldivian way of life. A member of the friendly recreation staff will be on hand to personally show guests around. Wandering about the island, guests may catch a glimpse of locals building their traditional boats and children at play, with the opportunity to visit the shops for local arts and crafts. There will be plenty of time afterwards for snorkeling, swimming or simply soaking up the sun. At the end of the day, watch the sunset on the horizon of the great Indian Ocean.

Turtle Adventure

Join our Marine Biologist for a short educational presentation to learn more about these ancient reptiles. Then after a short cruise, you will experience swimming with these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat at Turtle Reef.

Secrets of Thila

Sail on our traditional Dhoni and explore the secrets of some of the Maldives’ many Thilas. These underwater reefs or Thilas, as they are called in Dhivehi, the local language, are home to a multitude of beautiful colorful fish. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch served on board.

Shark Safari

Ever wanted to swim with sharks? Now is your chance. Join our Marine Biologist for a short educational presentation to learn more about these awesome predators after which the adventure continues by boat. Your journey takes you to Shark Reef for an unforgettable experience to the underwater world. Search the waves for these magnificent creatures and prepare yourself to be dazzled.

Dolphin Cruise

The Maldives ranks among the top five places on earth for watching whales and dolphins. Over 20 different species call the Maldives home. Why not join our Resident Marine Biologist for a short presentation to learn more about these charismatic and intelligent marine mammals. The fun continues as we cruise into the sunset in search of spinner dolphins playing in their natural habitat. It’s an experience you won’t forget.

For Art Lovers

One&Only Reethi Rah’s resident artist will be holding object-based classes on ceramics, stained glass, Venetian mask decoration, miniature sculpture, cold porcelain floristics, jewelry, quilling and scrap-book making. These decorative art classes will focus on the stylish, historical and theoretical contexts of the various art forms including design, ranging from the Renaissance to the present, as well as authentic Maldivian culture. Pottery classes are also available and focused on wheel-thrown pottery.

SPECIAL EXPERIENCES

Seaplane Castaway Experience

Charter your own seaplane to your own deserted island and experience the thrill of flying high above the stunning islands of the Maldives. While snorkeling in pristine waters or sunbathing on your private beach, a delicious barbecue will be prepared for you and your guests. We will take you out on a speed boat to try your hand at Maldivian hand line fishing and if you’re lucky, you will enjoy the freshest grilled fish for lunch.

Sunset Sandbank Experience

Experience the thrill of a tiny deserted island, surrounded by the stunning clear waters and coral reefs of the Indian Ocean. As you snorkel in the unbelievably warm sea, you will come across an abundance of marine life, a multitude of colorful fish, Manta Rays, Barracudas and even turtles. Drinks and snacks are served on the sandbank, where you are able to sunbathe and admire a spectacular sunset with your friends or loved ones.

Private Sandbank Experience

Charter your own private boat to a sandbank in the middle of the ocean, where you can snorkel in unbelievably turquoise waters and see an incredible variety of multi-colored fish, including sea creatures, Manta Rays, turtles and even dolphins. As you soak up the sun on the glorious white sand of your tiny island, you will be waited on hand and foot by our gracious staff, who will be serving refreshing drinks and delicious snacks throughout this memorable afternoon. For your own privacy, you can request your guide to leave you alone on the sandbank – who will then collect you at a time that is most convenient.

Big Game Fishing

Join our expert angler for the ultimate big game fishing adventure onboard a luxury yacht and cruise the open seas in search of Barracudas, Sail Fish, Tuna, Wahoo and Giant Trevally. However big or small your catch, this will be a day to remember.
